Our Mission

The Hub City Railway Museum in Oelwein, Iowa is dedicated to preserving the area’s rich railroad heritage. Its exhibits showcase the histories of major railroads like the Chicago Great Western, Rock Island, Chicago and North Western, Iowa Northern, and Canadian National. The museum serves as a valuable resource for researchers, students, and railroad enthusiasts interested in American transportation history.

Hub City History

The Hub City Heritage Railway Museum was started June 14, 1987. The Railroad Museum was operated by Bill Mundt until his death in 2020. In the fall of 2023, a new Board of Directors was appointed. Officers Ed Raye, President; Dana Smith, Vice President; Lynda Payne, Treasurer, and Board Members Anthony Ricchio, Dasan Ladage, and Kaden Emerson.
